Every year they have contests for the nicest kite and also for the best flying kite. They spend the day eating in the graveyard with the dead, flying kites, listening to loud music, and relaxing. The whole town is one big festival with all kinds of venders with crafts and more food then you can shake a stick at (which is good). They do not fly the great big kites but they fly kites that are about 24 feet across. It takes a lot of work to get the kites high enough so that they stay up for a long time. This time only one stayed up and all the others only went up to about 100 to 200 feet and then fell down ( ON THE PEOPLE ).

Landslide prevention.
A month ago this section of cliff fell down and blocked the 4 lane highway for a little while. Before this it was almost straight up but now since it fell down they decided to knock down the rest of the trees and lose dirt. So they hang by ropes and pick away at the dirt around the stumps until they fall down and then they knock all the lose dirt down. You can see how the are cleaning up the cliff and then they drill some holes into the hillside for anchors and then they will plaster they whole hill with concrete to seal it from the rain and to prevent more landslides from happening.

I am kinda confused, it rains cats and dogs and we get big potholes.
Then after awhile they put dirt in the potholes and then it rains again, like it does in the rainy season almost every day. But for some unknown reason the dirt turns into mud and pushes out of the holes again. I mean they put nice dirt in the holes and they even fill them to the top. This is a very normal and common thing to do. Where the sidewalk ends and the road begins…………..

Vehicles in Guatemala in a day.
Oscar was driving today so I grabbed my 70mm-200mm and sat shotgun to hopefully see something unusual but all I seen was normal vehicles. At the orphanage we were working at they wanted to paint a moral on the wall so we went into town (Chimaltenango) to get some paint and while we were waiting I took some pics as the traffic went by. The buses a.k.a. chicken buses are a normal mode of transportation. The Pizza Hut motorcycle is a very common delivery vehicle. McDonalds also has delivery bikes. Why would someone even build a road any wider?
This must be a 2 ton pickup!
Gas on it!
Whew! That was a heavy bag too put up here. But hey I gotta make my 3 dollers a day.
Did someone say inspections.
When it’s time to deliver pizza it’s time to deliver pizza, besides no one’s using the middle line. Also some places they even have bike lanes (shoulders).
Now that’s a mini van!
